The National D-Day Museum in New Orleans is marking the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II with an international conference Oct. 5-9, 2005.
Paul Tibbets , pilot of the Enola Gay, is scheduled to speak at the World War II conference in New Orleans. More than 200 speakers are scheduled, many of whom experienced the war. The International Conference on World War II is expected to be the largest gathering to date of historians, war veterans, authors, statesmen and journalists from worldwide. The central point of discussion is how World War II changed life almost everywhere. Among the keynote speakers scheduled are newsman Walter Cronkite, former U.S. Sens. Bob Dole and George McGovern, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and author James Bradley. Also scheduled to speak are Gen. Paul Tibbets, pilot of the Enola Gay, which dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima; former military journalist Andy Rooney; and CBS Radio correspondent Richard C. Hottelet.
